The American Camp Association is the leading authority in youth development. As a fully Accredited Camp through ACA, we use their standards to guide our decision-making process in all aspects of camp. These strict guidelines ensure a safe and fun summer for campers, staff, and camper families.
We take our jobs seriously and your Camper's health and safety is a priority. in addition to everything below, we will make sure your child stays hydrated and fed throughout the day. We reinforce good habits such as teeth brushing and personal hygiene, and they practice being a good roommate by keeping their cabins clean.
Our Registered Camp Nurse will attend to any medical needs that arise and administer medications that you send. Additionally, all our staff are First Aid, and CPR certified.
A rigorous two weeks of training occur before the summer season begins. Staff are trained in activities and must show proficiency before they can lead them. Campers are never left unsupervised, and counselors follow the rule of 3: Counselors and campers must always travel in a group of 3.
Camp RIO employs Security Guards to patrol the property from sundown to sunrise during our summer camp season.
Camp RIO has fencing around it's 85 acres and much of it is also covered with thick thorn brush which would be difficult (and painful) to get through.
Camp RIO is secured by two electric gates which are locked at all times. Entry is only permitted by appointment.
All visitors to Camp RIO must submit to a background check and receive a visitor badge before walking around property. They will also be accompanied by a Camp staff member as required.
Certain areas of camp like the swimming pool and maintenance shop are locked when not being used to prevent campers from accessing those locations.
