Composing letters within the Campanion app allows you to send your campers the gift of a printed, hand-delivered letter while they are away. Even better? We’ve put writing letters at your fingertips; letters can be composed and sent conveniently right from your devices.
The stream is more than just a list of camp photos and albums. It’s your personalized collection of camp moments tagged with your child. Using facial recognition, the Campanion app sifts through thousands of photos from camp to deliver photos tagged specifically with your child.
Photos are stored within albums, making it easy to find and view images such as favorites or from different activities at camp. You can tap, swipe, and browse camp albums directly from your phone. This places your camp experience – and your child – at your fingertips, every day.
Stay in the know about what's going on at Camp! Microposts provide a level of communication with camp parents like no other. Here is where we can share important, media-rich information such as event updates or re-enrollment information straight to your mobile devices.
The forms tool provides you with a variety of intuitive options for getting forms to in on time. Health forms can be downloaded, emailed to doctors, and then uploaded as PDFs right to a camper’s profile. Paper forms are just as hassle-free thanks to the document scanning tool. Like depositing a mobile check, all you need to do is point your phone at the form – page borders are automatically detected, ensuring you get a complete and high-quality PDF.
Face Finder is our tool for helping deliver campers’ photos directly to you. Using facial recognition technology, we search for photos of campers automatically and tag them for you to view in the app.
You upload a ‘training photo’ of your child, which the system catalogs into its database. As photos are uploaded from camp, Face Finder compares the unique facial characteristics that it learned from the training photo with each new photo. If there’s a match, you get a notification, and the photo shows up directly in your stream within the Campanion app.

During rest period, counselors hand out letters from parents. If a parent clicked on "reply requested" then a special piece of stationery is printed with the letter that the camper can write on. If not, then the camper cannot respond. Sometimes, the camper gets the stationery but doesn't want to write back. Counselors try to encourage all campers to write something back if possible. Ultimately, it is the camper's choice.
No. Phones become a distraction and in some cases can even cause problems. We encourage campers to leave all electronics at home.
In general, we discourage this practice. However, we do make exceptions. In years of the camping world, practice has shown that campers are more likely to want to go home if they hear their parents' voice. Parents are welcome to come and get their children at any time, and if a camper seems to be very homesick, we contact parents to game plan a solution (possibly a transition to day camp or parent pick up). But our goal is to work with the camper to encourage them to engage in the activities and with other campers so that they will enjoy their time at camp and want to stay. They are less likely to do this if they have spoken to a parent.
