The health and safety of our staff and campers is our number one priority! We implemented preventative safety procedures detailed below that proved successful during summer 2021 and 2022. We will continue to monitor and implement recommendations by the CDC, ACA, and the State of Texas for summer 2023.
Camp RIO employs Security Guards to patrol the property from sundown to sunrise during our summer camp season.
Camp RIO has fencing around it's 85 acres and much of it is also covered with thick thorn brush which would be difficult (and painful) to get through.
Camp RIO is secured by two electric gates which are locked at all times. Entry is only permitted by appointment.
All visitors to Camp RIO must submit to a background check and receive a visitor badge before walking around property. They will also be accompanied by a Camp staff member as required.
Certain areas of camp like the swimming pool and maintenance shop are locked when not being used to prevent campers from accessing those locations.
Camp RIO values the safety of your children. We have developed the following protocols to help your children have a safe summer camp experience.
Limiting Camper groups to 10 or less (photo taken in April 2020)
