We understand that it can be difficult for many families to have a child spend time away from home, especially if it's the first time. That is why we give parents updates on their campers using Bunk1.
Bunk1 is a face recognition software that allows families an easy way of staying connected with their child(ren) while at camp by providing photos, handwritten notes, and videos straight to your account.
Once you register your child for overnight camp, the summer camp manager will inform you when it's time to start your Bunk1 account. You can also search for Bunk1 in your App Store.
Send Bunk Notes day or night. We receive a pdf at10 AM CST each day containing all Bunk Notes received in the last 24 hours. Receive a handwritten note from your camper into your Bunk1account.
The Bunk1 team is available to support you 7 days a week during peak season. They guarantee a response within 24 hours and it's usually much quicker than that.
Please call Bunk1 at 212-974-9112 or emailsupport@bunk1.com. For FAQ’s related to the services above, visit www.bunk1family.com/faqs
Please write to us at summer@camprio.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.
During rest period, counselors hand out letters from parents. If a parent clicked on "reply requested" then a special piece of stationery is printed with the letter that the camper can write on. If not, then the camper cannot respond. Sometimes, the camper gets the stationery but doesn't want to write back. Counselors try to encourage all campers to write something back if possible. Ultimately, it is the camper's choice.
No. Phones become a distraction and in some cases can even cause problems. We encourage campers to leave all electronics at home.
In general, we discourage this practice. However, we do make exceptions. In years of the camping world, practice has shown that campers are more likely to want to go home if they hear their parents' voice. Parents are welcome to come and get their children at any time, and if a camper seems to be very homesick, we contact parents to game plan a solution (possibly a transition to day camp or parent pick up). But our goal is to work with the camper to encourage them to engage in the activities and with other campers so that they will enjoy their time at camp and want to stay. They are less likely to do this if they have spoken to a parent.
